About this talk: Andrea T. Deyrup M.D., Ph.D. and Joseph L. Graves, Jr., Ph.D. will discuss how the concept of "race" is misused throughout medical education and practice. Learners will leave the session with:

• An understanding of the consequences of the misuse of “race” which include:

  o Negative clinical outcomes;

  o Premature death;

  o Loss of patient and community confidence in clinical practitioners and processes.

• The ability to identify and eliminate the misuse of “race” in curricula and clinical decision-making.
